En 1922 un quart des étudiants du Bauhaus étaient des étudiantes, et se trouvaient rapidement expédiées dans la section textile. Alma Buscher parvint à contourner ce déterminisme en promettant de s’occuper des enfants: mobilier et jouets, avec un tel succès pour ces derniers qu’ils sont encore édités aujourd’hui.
Cette grue aux couleurs de De Stijl fut dessinée après son départ de l’école, accompagnée d’un bateau, pour l’éditeur Otto Maier qui mit malheureusement la clef sous la porte avant même le début de l’impression, et c’est le libraire Walther König qui le publia 60 ans plus tard.
Alma Buscher est décédée lors d’un bombardement en 1944.
In 1922, 25% of the Bauhaus students were ladies, and as such, were pushed into the weawing studio. Alma Buscher was able to do more by promising to take care of the children: bedroom furniture and toys.
This cut-out crane was supposed to be published by Otto Maier who went out of business before anything was printed, luckily enough Walther König did the job 60 years later.
Alma Buscher died in 1944 in an air raid.
