Dress up and let’s have a party




Deux ans avant de s’attaquer à un texte de Margaret Wise Brown, Remy Charlip faisait déjà des merveilles en solo.
Mettant à profit son intérêt pour les plus jeunes de ses concitoyens ainsi que son expérience au sein du Living Theater de Merce Cunningham, il élabore ici le prototype d’une troupe de théâtre avec et pour les enfants qui sera finalement fondée en 1958 avec Judith Martin: les Paper Bag Players.

Two years before illustrating Margaret Wise Brown’s The Dead Bird, Remy Charlip was already working on a picture book masterpiece.
Mixing his interest in youth with his experience at Merce Cunningham’s Living Theater, he builds here the prototype of what will become known as the Paper Bag Players.
